Mrs. Mohn's 6th Grade Social Studies

To end a unit study on Ancient Egypt, Mrs. Mohn's sixth grade world history classes created Egyptian Cartouches. Each student analyzed Egyptian writing and then transformed his or her name, in hieroglyphics, onto a cartouche. The students then decorated his or her cartouche with magical jewels and symbols called amulets. These were thought to protect the individuals and bring them good luck.
