BACK TO SCHOOL: COVID PROCEDURE UPDATES

Students, Staff, Faculty, & Community—

We hope you are enjoying the final weeks of summer! Upon your return, we have outlined the below COVID procedures for the 2021-2022 school year. Recently we have all grown accustomed to the fluidity of adjustments and challenges; our administration is no exception and will continue to monitor and enact additional plans when necessary.

MASKS: At the discretion of their parents, students may choose to wear or omit facial coverings during the school day. Faculty and staff may also wear masks at their own discretion. Masks will be required of faculty/staff and students on all bussing in accordance with the federal mandate.

  •    As stated previously, masks will be a personal choice. However, this choice comes with responsibility and risk assessment in the following areas:

1.)     If you are exposed to COVID while not wearing a mask and are unvaccinated, you will be required to quarantine in accordance with the latest Ohio Department of Health and/or CDC guidelines.

2.)  If you are exposed to COVID and are wearing a mask, you will not have to follow quarantine procedures unless uncommon symptoms present themselves.

LUNCHES, GYM CLASS, RECESS: These activities will resume with reasonable attempts to socially distance students and faculty/staff.

FIELD TRIPS, OPEN HOUSES, & ORIENTATIONS:  With the exception of extended, overnight trips, field trips will resume as normal (students must wear masks on the bus per the federal mandate). Open houses and orientations will resume and will be in-person.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS:

  • Temperature checks will resume

  • Thorough sanitation practices nightly will continue

  • Restricting all unnecessary outside visitors

WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE FEELING ILL:

  • If you are feeling ill, stay home and monitor your symptoms

  • If your symptoms do not progress and are not abnormal, you may return to school

VIRTUAL LEARNING:

  • There will be no virtual learning option at this time

  • If you have a student who is medically unable to attend in-person instruction, home Instruction will be offered ON A DIGITAL PLATFORM with 5 hours per week of tutoring to those who provide appropriate documentation

  • Typical, non-covid related illnesses will be treated as a typical absence without virtual learning

  • Absences due to quarantine will be treated as a typical absence and students will be required to arrange for all assignments to be completed

We look forward to another successful year at Springfield Local Schools! Go Tigers!
