ADA Compliance

Springfield Local School District addresses ADA compliance in several ways:

  • Special Education Services: The district provides special education programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of each student with a disability in the least restrictive environment. They aim to educate students with disabilities alongside their non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate.
  • Accessible Facilities: The district has implemented features to aid students with disabilities, such as sensory rooms in the elementary and elevator access at the Intermediate and High Schools.  Additionally, all buildings have spaces that are designed and constructed to meet the accessibility standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring equal access for individuals with disabilities.
  • Non-Discrimination: The SLSD Student Handbooks states that any person who believes they have been discriminated against on the basis of disability (among other protected characteristics) while at school or a school activity should contact the district's Compliance Officer(s).
  • Digital and Website Accessibility: Springfield Local Schools adheres to all ADA web accessibility standards.  This includes compatibility with assistive technologies, providing alt text for images, and captions for videos.
